Drummer Matt Helders has revealed the group are working on a follow-up to 2018 s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino , but the band have been faced with various obstacles amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: Being separated by the sea is one of them. We’re all eager to do it - we would have been doing it by now in a normal time. There’s definitely a desire from our end to do a new record, as soon as we can.
The 34-year-old stickman - who is originally from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, where his fellow band members, Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, and Nick O Malley also hail from - is currently based in Los Angeles, where he has been working on his drumming.

Amid rumours that the Rolling In the Deep hitmaker is set to release her hotly-anticipated follow-up to 2015 s 25 next month, her close pal has revealed he s listened to some of the songs and they are her best yet.
Speaking to RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage for Grazia UK, the 44-year-old comedian - who got Grammy-winner Adele to officiate his Los Angeles wedding to Paul Drayton in 2018 - spilled: I’ve heard some tracks on it.
“Oh my gosh, it’s so amazing. It’s so amazing.
“I said to her, I said, ‘That voice is like an old friend.’ It’s like an old friend. Because there are some people [on] the charts who sound a bit like Adele and you go, ‘Oh they sound [like] Adele,’ and then when you hear Adele’s voice again you go, ‘Oh no, there’s only one. There’s only one Adele. ”

Celeste has brought forward the release of her debut studio album, Not Your Muse , to January 29.
The Stop This Flame hitmaker s first full-length release was due to arrive on February 26.
However, Celeste excitedly updated her fans this week to let them know that the 12-track LP will now arrive at the end of this month.
